Trying to set up a VPN connection from your smartphone to your StrideLinx gateway does not work. You may be able to set up the VPN connection, but you are unable to reach any of the devices behind the edge gateway, like a PLC, HMI, or controller.
On your phone, you are using one of the following cellular providers, commonly used in the USA.
- Verizon
- AT&T
- T-Mobile
The provider indicates that IPv6 is available. As such, your phone will try to use IPv6 to set up the VPN connection. However, internal testing reveals that the cellular connection is not fully IPv6 compatible. As a result, difficulties are experienced when trying to set up a VPN connection.
Configure your StrideLinx Portal app to use IPv4 when setting up a VPN connection.
- Make sure you have at least app version 2.52.43305. If not, update your app from Google Play or iPhone App store.
- Open the StrideLinx Portal app on your smartphone.
3. Choose "Device Status"
4. Scroll down to find the "VPN Connect"-component, and tap the icon.
5. Change the VPN protocol to IPv4 only.
6. Set up the VPN connection as you did before.
If you are still unable to reach the devices behind the edge gateway, there may be something else going on. Please use the following support article to help you resolve the issue: Troubleshooting the connection to your machine.
This setting is phone specific. So as long as you log in with the same phone the IPv4 setting should be persistent. If you log in from another phone or device (ie. iPad) with the app and have issues you should check this setting again.
